The Requirement
Gelidus have supported Voco Reading (previously Millennium Madejski Hotel) with the planned maintenance of their air conditioning and ventilation systems since 2017. On a routine visit, we identified a pressure point in the well-furnished kitchen of their award-winning Cilantro restaurant, which relied on a single extract system to maintain the ventilation and gas supply to their entire commercial kitchen space.
The Solution
A survey visit was carried out that found sufficient roof space to site a second extract air-handling unit, and a proposal was submitted to supply and install this backup unit to create a reliable and comfortable kitchen environment.
The works included the installation of the power supply and connection of the new air-handling unit onto the hotels Building Management System to provide convenient control and visibility of its status for the maintenance team.
The simultaneous use of both units not only provides a more efficient working space for the Cilantro team, but a backup unit that provides continual reassurance going forward.
